Metrolina Association for the Blind, Inc. has been providing services to and empowering people with blindness and visual impairment since 1934.


We are hiring a full time Bilingual Receptionist. We are seeking individual who is flexible, adaptable, comfortable with a diverse community, and has good people/customer service skills.


This is a full time year round position with benefits.

Purpose: The receptionist is the forward-facing position for our organization and is essential for our continued success.


You will be part of a specialized team of professionals providing vision rehabilitation services to the dynamic Charlotte community.


Requirements:

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent

Bachelor’s degree (preferred but not required)

Pass a rigorous background, drug screening and credit check.

Bilingual- Spanish and English


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Screen all visitors via the video and intercom systems prior to entering the building and follow all security measures with check-in process

· Sign for all special deliveries and follow the procedures for mail delivery, USPS included

· Obtains caller’s name and takes message or arranges for appointment with person called upon

· Directs caller to destination, and records name, time of call, nature of business, and person called upon as required

· Operates telephone console to receive incoming messages

· Types memos, correspondence, reports, and other documents

· Directs clients to appropriate services

· Provides empathetic encouragement to blind and visually impaired clients and families

· Provides information on blindness and low vision- related issues

· Translate for staff as needed

· Other duties as assigned
